The eccentricities of an artist.

I noticed this little oddity about how my mind works when I draw.

I am sitting here, drawing a picture for a friend of mine, the image in my head as plain as day and I was working my hardest to portray it on the canvas when suddenly I heard an ambulance roaming past and I totaly snap out of it.

When I draw (and I kinda just noticed) I put myself into a totaly different world, a fantacy you might say, where I can better imagine and make a mental picture of my desired drawing.

I talk to a lot of artists both IRL and online, many tell me they need a certain calm and mindset to draw. Is it so that they too need to put themselves in a completely different place, imagine a new world when they produce art?

One more thing many tell me is they need ideal conditions concidering sitting position, lights, music and such to work properly. I personaly can be curled up in a bus, hanging over a railing, sitting on the floor or lying in bed in all kinds of lightsets and music is really not a must as long as I can concentrate long enough to well.. trance if you may :p

I would love to hear about other peoples state of mind, eccentricities, obsessions and such surounding when they work.

I cant concentrate anymore so gonna do some laundry :p
